What You’ll Walk Away With
Active, professional profiles on both Fiverr and Upwork — set up correctly from the start so you can start landing clients for service-based income levers from day one.

9.1

Why Freelance Profiles Are Part of the Core Toolkit

Multiple levers in this course involve selling a service — AI workflow building, funnel architecture, content repurposing, social media management, web design, and more. All of these can be sold through Fiverr and Upwork. Setting up your profiles correctly once means you can activate any service-based lever without stopping to set up a new platform.

Freelance platforms are the fastest path to your first dollar online.

Affiliate marketing takes months to compound. Digital products need traffic before they sell. But a freelance profile — set up well, priced right, in the right category — can land you a paying client within your first two weeks.

For anyone who needs income in the next 30 days

Fiverr and Upwork are where you start.

9.2

Fiverr vs. Upwork: What’s the Difference?

Both platforms connect freelancers with clients, but they work differently. Understanding the distinction helps you use each one strategically.

🟢
Fiverr
Model

You list a service → clients find it → they order

✓
Passive inbound — once your gig ranks, clients come without constant outreach
✓
Best for productized, clearly defined services
—
Takes time to build reviews and ranking

Best for: Productized services — “I will write a 5-email welcome sequence” or “I will build you an AI content workflow.”

🔵
Upwork
Model

Client posts a job → you submit a proposal → client chooses a freelancer

✓
Access to higher-paying clients; better for long-term relationships and retainers
✓
Hourly or fixed-price contracts — clients often have larger budgets
—
Requires active outreach and proposal writing

Best for: Ongoing projects, higher-budget work, and complex services.

The Strategy

Use both. Set up your Fiverr gigs as your inbound machine — it builds while you sleep. Use Upwork for active outreach and landing higher-value contracts faster. Over time, Fiverr compounds as your reviews grow. Upwork gives you immediate, higher-value opportunities.

9.3

Setting Up Your Fiverr Profile

A Fiverr profile is your storefront. Clients look at it before they decide to order. It needs to be professional, specific, and trust-building — even if you’re just starting.

1
Create your account

→Go to fiverr.com and click “Join”
→Sign up with your email or Google account
→Choose a professional, brand-relevant username (e.g. “hussleai” or your name)
2
Build your seller profile

Complete every section in your profile settings.

Profile photo

Use a real, professional-looking headshot. Fiverr data consistently shows face photos outperform logos or avatars. No good photo? Canva’s AI photo editor can clean up a casual shot.

Profile description

150–200 words covering: who you are, what you do, who you do it for, and why clients should choose you.

✗ Weak

“I am an experienced AI writer.”

✓ Strong

“I help small business owners build AI-powered content systems that save them 10+ hours a week.”

Skills to add
Content Writing
AI Writing
Email Marketing
Copywriting
SEO
Social Media Marketing
Education & certifications

Add these even if they seem unrelated. Any credential builds trust.

3
Verify your identity

Fiverr requires ID verification to unlock full selling capabilities. Have your government-issued ID ready. This usually takes a few hours to complete.

9.4

Creating Your First Fiverr Gig

Don’t offer everything at once. Pick one specific service you can deliver confidently, that has clear searchable demand, and can be completed in a reasonable timeframe.

Strong first gig options for Hussle AI students
✍️“I will write a 5-email welcome sequence for your online business”
🤖“I will build an AI content workflow for your blog or social media”
📄“I will create a professional lead magnet ebook or checklist with Canva”
🔍“I will write SEO-optimised blog posts for your niche website”
📧“I will set up your email marketing in MailerLite or ConvertKit”

Writing your gig title

Your gig title is the most important piece of copy on your listing — it must be clear, specific, and include the keywords clients search for.

Formula

I will [specific deliverable] for [specific client type]

“I will write a 5-email welcome sequence for your online business”
“I will create an AI-powered content workflow for bloggers and creators”
“I will design a professional lead magnet PDF using Canva”
💡

Use ChatGPT: “Give me 10 Fiverr gig title ideas for a service offering [describe service]. Include relevant keywords clients would search for.”

Writing your gig description
1

Opening hook

Lead with the client’s problem: “Struggling to write emails that actually get opened and drive sales?”

2

What you offer

Describe the deliverable specifically and completely

3

What’s included

Bullet points listing exactly what the client gets

4

Who it’s for

Describe your ideal client specifically

5

Why choose you

Your differentiator — fast turnaround, AI-enhanced quality, satisfaction guarantee

6

Call to action

“Order now or send me a message with any questions”

3-tier pricing strategy

Fiverr lets you create three pricing tiers. Use all three. Example for an email sequence gig:

Basic
$35

3-email welcome sequence, 1 revision

Standard
$75

5-email welcome sequence, 2 revisions, subject line variations

Premium
$150

7-email full nurture sequence, unlimited revisions, strategy call included

💡

Sweet spot for new sellers: $25–$50 for the basic tier. Don’t undercharge (it signals low quality), but don’t overprice before you have reviews. Raise prices as your reviews build.

Gig images and video
→Upload 3 images: a branded main image (design in Canva), a “what’s included” graphic, and a sample or portfolio piece
→Gigs with a short intro video (30–60 seconds) consistently outperform those without. A screen recording with voiceover works well — you don’t need to be on camera.

9.5

Setting Up Your Upwork Profile

Upwork profiles require more detail than Fiverr because clients read them carefully before awarding contracts. Every section matters.

1
Create your account

→Go to upwork.com and sign up as a freelancer
→Choose your primary work category — Content Writing, Digital Marketing, or AI Services are strong starting categories

2

Build your profile — key sections

Professional headline

Appears under your name on every search result and proposal. Communicate your specific value in one line.

“AI-Powered Email Marketing Specialist | Welcome Sequences & Automation”
“Content Writer & SEO Specialist | Blog Posts That Rank and Convert”
“AI Workflow Builder | Helping Businesses Save 10+ Hours a Week”
“Freelance Writer”
“I can help with many things”

Professional overview

200–400 words. Structure it as:

→Who you help and what problem you solve
→The specific services you offer
→Your approach and what makes you different
→Brief background and relevant experience
→CTA: invite them to reach out
💡

“Write a professional Upwork freelancer overview for someone who offers [services]. My target clients are [describe]. My differentiator is [what makes you different]. Write in a confident, professional American English tone. 300 words.” Use Claude or ChatGPT.

Skills

Add 10–15 relevant skills. Upwork uses these to match you with job postings.

Content Writing
Email Marketing
MailerLite
ChatGPT
WordPress
SEO Copywriting

Portfolio

No paying clients yet? Build it anyway.

→Create 2–3 sample pieces specifically for your portfolio
→Use projects you’ve created for yourself (your own website, email sequence)
→Do 1–2 pro bono or discounted projects in exchange for a review

Hourly rate

Clients see your rate as a signal of your value level. Start at the low-to-mid range and raise it as reviews build.

Content writing
$25–$50/hr
Email marketing
$35–$65/hr
AI workflow services
$40–$75/hr
Funnel building
$50–$100/hr

9.6

Landing Your First Client: The Proposal Strategy

Setting up profiles is step one. Landing clients requires active effort — at least initially, before your reviews and reputation do the work for you.

On Fiverr

The primary strategy is optimisation and patience. Make sure your gig title, tags, and description include the exact keywords clients search for. Share your gig on social profiles and in relevant communities. Your first order is the hardest — once you have 3–5 reviews, the platform’s algorithm starts showing your gig more widely.

On Upwork

The proposal is everything. Here’s the structure that consistently wins:

1
Open with their specific problem — show you read their job post
2
State your relevant experience — briefly and specifically
3
Describe your approach — how you’d tackle their specific project
4
Show proof — link to a relevant portfolio piece
5
Close with a question — ask something that requires a response. This opens a conversation, which dramatically increases your chance of getting hired.

Keep proposals under 200 words. Long proposals rarely outperform short, relevant ones.

AI prompt for writing proposals
“Write an Upwork proposal for this job posting: [paste the job description]. I offer [your service]. My relevant experience includes [brief background]. Keep it under 200 words, professional, and end with a specific question to open a conversation.”

Edit the output to add your personal voice — but the structure and first draft are done in minutes.

9.7

How AI Makes You a Better Freelancer

AI doesn’t just help you do the work faster — it helps you deliver better results than freelancers who aren’t using it, at the same or lower price.

✍️

Content writing

AI drafts the structure and first pass; you refine and add expertise — better work in half the time.

📧

Email sequences

AI writes every email in the sequence; you personalize and optimize for the client’s brand voice.

📄

Lead magnet design

Canva AI accelerates design; Claude writes the content — a 20-page ebook in a weekend.

🤖

AI workflow services

You use the tools daily in your own business — you’re selling real experience, not theory.

You’re faster, your work is higher quality, and your profit margins are better because you’re not spending 8 hours on something that takes you 2. That is your competitive advantage over freelancers doing everything manually.
