Part 2

Lever 11 — Recurring Revenue

Module 6

Module at a Glance

Reading Time
15–20 minutes
What You’ll Walk Away With
A complete, dated, 30-day action plan for launching your first recurring revenue stream — whether that’s your first retainer client, a recurring affiliate content cluster, or both — based on your specific current situation.

L11M6.1

From Understanding to Action

The previous five modules in this lever gave you a comprehensive understanding of recurring revenue models, retainer service structures, scaling systems, and recurring affiliate strategy. Understanding without action produces nothing.

This final module converts that understanding into a specific, dated plan you can begin executing within the next 24 hours.

The plan branches based on your current situation — because the right first move differs significantly depending on whether you have an existing audience, an existing service skill, or neither yet fully developed.

L11M6.2

Determine Your Starting Path

Before following a specific 30-day plan, identify which situation best describes you right now.

Situation A
You have a deliverable skill but limited audience

AI workflows, content production, design, social media management — but limited content history or audience.

Follow
Retainer-First path → L11M6.3
Situation B
You have an established blog with affiliate content, but no service offer

Consistent traffic, some existing affiliate content — but no retainer clients or service infrastructure.

Follow
Affiliate-First path → L11M6.4
Situation C
You have both established audience and service delivery experience

Most students completing this course in sequence will be here — preceding levers have built substantial content and audience infrastructure.

Follow
Combined path → L11M6.5

L11M6.3

The Retainer-First 30-Day Plan

For Situation A: You have a deliverable skill but limited audience or content history.

30-day retainer-first plan
Situation A

Days
1–3
Define your offer

Using the frameworks from Module 3, finalize your specific retainer service and tier structure. Write your offer one-pager (referencing the format from Lever 5, Module 3) specifically for this recurring service. Define your Tier 1 pricing specifically.

✓
Complete your offer one-pager. Define your Tier 1 pricing specifically.

Days
4–7
Build your outreach list

Compile a list of 30 potential clients — 20 from your personal/professional network, 10 from local business research in your area (particularly effective if offering website or social media services).

✓
Complete your list of 30 names with contact information.

Days
8–14
Execute outreach

Send personalized outreach messages to your full list — referencing the network-mining message template from Lever 2, Module 7, adapted for your specific retainer offer. Aim for 5 messages per day. Track responses: contacted → responded → call booked → closed.

✓
Contact all 30 prospects. Track in a simple spreadsheet.

Days
15–21
Conduct discovery calls and close your first client

Using the discovery call framework from Lever 5, Module 5, conduct calls with every interested prospect. Aim to close at least 1 client — even at a discounted introductory rate if necessary to secure your first case study relationship.

★
Close your first retainer client.

Days
22–30
Deliver and document

Begin service delivery for your first client. Simultaneously, document your process as you go — this becomes your first SOP (from Module 4), useful both for maintaining your own consistency and for eventual delegation.

✓
Complete the first month of delivery and request initial feedback from your client.
🎯

30-day outcome

One active retainer client, a documented service delivery process, and a tested outreach and sales process you can repeat to add your second and third clients in the following month.

L11M6.4

The Recurring-Affiliate-First 30-Day Plan

For Situation B: You have an established blog with traffic and affiliate content, but no service offer.

Situation B

Days
1–3
Audit and prioritize your affiliate portfolio

Using the framework from Module 5, review every affiliate program you currently promote. Categorize each as:

✓Core — recurring, low-churn, well-converting
→Secondary
→Opportunistic
✓
Complete your Recurring Affiliate Portfolio Dashboard with current programs categorized.

Days
4–10
Build your first dedicated comparison content cluster

Select your single highest-priority core program. Identify its top 2 competing alternatives. Plan and write 2 comparison posts using the authority content workflow from Lever 9, Module 4:

→“[Your Core Program] vs [Competitor 1]”
→“[Your Core Program] vs [Competitor 2]”
✓
Publish 2 new comparison posts targeting your core recurring program.

Days
11–17
Build the “switching” content piece

Write one piece of content specifically targeting users of a competing tool who might switch to your core program — using the format from Module 5’s content strategy section.

✓
Publish 1 switching-focused post.

Days
18–24
Integrate into your email sequences

Review your welcome sequence and nurture sequence (Lever 8). Ensure your core recurring program is featured prominently and naturally at the appropriate points. If it isn’t currently featured, write and integrate a new email specifically highlighting it.

✓
Update your email automation to feature your core recurring program.

Days
25–30
Set up tracking and review

Finalize your Recurring Affiliate Portfolio Dashboard with baseline numbers. Set a calendar reminder for your first quarterly portfolio review — 90 days out.

✓
Confirm your dashboard is tracking correctly and your first quarterly review is scheduled.
🎯

30-day outcome

A deliberately prioritized affiliate strategy, 3 new pieces of content specifically optimized for recurring-commission compounding, and a tracking system that will reveal whether your prioritization is producing the expected growth over the following quarters.

L11M6.5

The Combined 30-Day Plan

For Situation C: You have both established audience and service delivery capability. Run a compressed version of both paths simultaneously, allocating roughly half your available time to each.

🎯

30-day outcome

Progress on both an active or near-active retainer relationship and a deliberately optimized recurring affiliate content strategy — building toward the full three-model recurring revenue base described in Module 1’s sequencing strategy.

L11M6.6

The 90-Day Recurring Revenue Milestone Check

Regardless of which path you followed, set a 90-day review to assess your recurring revenue progress against these benchmarks.

Retainer path — 90-day benchmarks
✓1–3 active retainer clients
✓A documented SOP for your core service
✓A repeatable outreach process with a known conversion rate (e.g., 1 in 8 contacts converts)
Affiliate path — 90-day benchmarks
✓4–6 pieces of content built around your core recurring programs
✓Measurable growth in active referrals for your core programs — even 5–10 new confirms the strategy is working
✓A functioning quarterly tracking and review process

If you’re behind these benchmarks — AI diagnostic prompt

“I set out to build recurring revenue through [retainer services/recurring affiliate content] over the last 90 days. Here’s what I accomplished: [describe]. Here’s what I expected to accomplish: [describe benchmarks]. What are the most likely reasons for the gap, and what should I prioritize differently for the next 90 days?”

The diagnosis usually reveals one of these patterns
→Retainer path: insufficient outreach volume
→Affiliate path: insufficient content volume or traffic to support conversion
→Either path: mismatch between the offer/content and genuine audience demand

Address the specific diagnosed cause rather than abandoning the strategy entirely.

L11M6.7

Looking Ahead: The Compounding Future

The work completed in this lever’s 30-day plan is deliberately modest — one client, a few pieces of content, a tracking system. This modesty is intentional.

Retainer path — compounding

Close one retainer client this month. Add one more every subsequent month. Build a $3,000–$6,000/month recurring service business within a year — without ever working at a frantic pace.

Affiliate path — compounding

Build one disciplined comparison content cluster this month and one more every quarter. Build a meaningfully passive recurring affiliate income stream within 18–24 months.

The discipline required is not intensity — it is consistency.

Recurring revenue rewards the entrepreneur who shows up reliably over the entrepreneur who works furiously in bursts and then disappears. This lever, more than any other in this course, is won through patient, repeated execution of a known, working process.
